I am learning more and more that diet sodas and artificial sweeteners are not good for you and cause faster weight gain than had I consumed a regular soda.

Many of us would like to lose weight but we do not want to adhere to a program. Diet is a four letter word and not a good one. 🙂

I have found that trying to lose weight on your own can be difficult. Find a friend or someone you can work with to lose weight together. You can help motivate and encourage each other on a daily basis even after you reach your goals.

You have to change your mindset to think about living a healthy lifestyle. Living a healthy lifestyle does not mean dieting all the time, or losing weight only to put it back on months later. It also does not mean, depriving yourself of those foods and drinks that you enjoy. It means moderating how much of it you put into your body.

You may eat less of the bad food but you can replace some of it with food that is good for you. The important thing is to moderate so you do not feel you are depriving yourself. If you feel like you are depriving yourself, you will most likely fail and put the weight back on.

There is no perfect weight or body size. The important thing is to be healthy and feel good about yourself no matter what.

How can you start living a healthier lifestyle? Here are a few steps:

  1. Change Your Mindset
  2. Set Attainable Goals
  3. Set Up a Support System
  4. Make Healthier Choices – Eat Right Not Less
  5. Start Moving – Sweat is good
  6. Most Importantly – Stick With It!

If you “fall off the wagon” it’s okay. Just brush yourself off and get right back up. Remember, you are working on a long-term healthy lifestyle not a short term diet or phase.

You may have one of those weekends or weeks where you put on a few pounds. We all do it. Just get back in to your healthy routine (without making it feel like a routine) and you will be fine.
